BLACK VELVET DANCE

MODERN LINE DANCE FOR ALL AGES AND ABILITIES

Black Velvet Dance was created in 2006 to offer Beginner level classes during the day.  Over the years more classes were added, until we reached where we are today - multiple weekly classes covering all levels!

During the 2020 pandemic Black Velvet Dance went virtual, taking their regular classes to Zoom and attracting more new dancers.  These dancers stayed with us as we re-opened our in-person classes, which enabled us to start more daytime classes.

Spreading the love of Line Dance to as many people as possible has always been important to us, which is why we regularly restart our beginners classes to allow more new dancers to join us and experience the joy of dance!

AMI CARTER

Ami began Line Dancing in 1999 at the age of 14 with 3-time World Champion Rachael McEnaney-White.  She had always loved dance and performing arts, but it was Line Dance that really struck a chord and got her hooked.  Since starting Line Dance she has branched out in to other genres - Salsa, Swing and Musical Theatre - but always continued to teach Line Dance.

Like many dancers, Ami enjoys creating her own Line Dance choreography.  In 2018 she won the World Dance Masters choreography competition and has spent a considerable amount of time with local theatre groups as a choreographer for musicals and pantomimes.  â€‹
